Available Positions

Retail sales assistants: Work 3- to 4-hour or full-day shifts. Duties include organizing merchandise, providing personalized customer service, following up on donations and consignments, and checking in and tagging merchandise.

Marketing and Public Relations: Help plan and execute marketing plan and events for the store; product photography and more

Merchandisers/Stylists: Style the store with the current merchandise.


IT Director: Plans, implements and oversees strategic vision for IT. Recruits IT help desk volunteers for day to day tactical support.

Researchers: Research pricing for items donated and consigned with the store.

Behind the Scenes: Data entry, IT help desk, special projects.

Authenticators: Confirm authenticity of designer items.

Online Store: Update website, provide technical assistance and general support requests.

Jewelry appraisers: Appraising value and quality of jewelry items sold at the boutique.

Furniture scouts: Visit customers to view furnishings in order to determine which merchandise will be accepted for donation or consignment.

Furniture and home decor appraisers: Appraising value and quality of all antiques that are donated or consigned with the store.

Time Commitment

  • Glencoe: Volunteer shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday between the hours of 10:00am and 5:30pm.
  • Chicago: Volunteer shifts are available from 10:00am to 7:00pm Monday-Saturday and 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Sundays.
  • Old Orchard, Skokie: Opens 6/1/2019 - Volunteer shifts will be available from 10:00am to 8:00pm Monday-Thursday, 10:00am to 9:00pm Friday -Saturday, and 11:00am to 6:00pm Sundays.
  • Shifts are usually 3-6 hours long. Most volunteers work at least one shift per week.
  • Scheduling is flexible, but we ask for a commitment of at least 16 hours/month for three months. Commitments requirements vary based on position.


  • Minimum age: 18 or older
  • Interest in and enthusiasm about volunteering and supporting our mission.
  • Retail sales positions: previous customer service and/or retail experience and/or volunteer work desirable but not required.
  • Other positions: relevant skill set and/or prior experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, reliability and flexibility desired.
  • The ability to stand or sit for long periods of time (for certain volunteer positions) is required.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and perform a wide variety of tasks.

Dress Code

  • Business casual attire. No jeans permitted.


  • Retail sales position: learn and develop skills and experience in customer service, sales, cashiering, and retail operations.
  • Meet and build a community of friends.
  • Develop or enhance professional skills for the future.
