JOB DESCRIPTION  

The Intake Assistant assists the Intake Manager for the receipt, pricing, and preparation of fashion and home store merchandise. Training will be provided.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES  

 Communicating with consignors to facilitate receipt and pricing of merchandise. 

 Researching consigned and donated merchandise to assess market value and marking such  value on item.  

 Entering item data, including description and pricing, into database.  

 Organizing inventory to assure timely placement for sale in store.  

 May perform duties of a sales associate when store is short staffed.  

 Solicit and recruit new volunteers and consignors.  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  

KNOWLEDGE  

 Knowledge of and support of the mission, vision, and values of the North Shore  Exchange.  

 Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. 

 Principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. 

 Principles of merchandising and marketing.  

 Personal computer operations related to internet search strategies, database,  spreadsheet, email, and credit card software utilization.  

 Knowledge of the fashion or furniture and antique marketplace.  

 Business math 

SKILLS  

 Interpersonal communication skills including active listening, speaking, and conflict abatement.  

 Proactively identifying and resolving problems and interpersonal conflicts.  

 Maintaining computerized records in a timely fashion.  

 Conducting internet searches.  

 Handling cash and credit card receipts.  

ABILITIES  

 Lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance.  

 Stock merchandise.  

 Track and move inventory.  

 Read, write, and perform basic math.  

 Stand and walk for extended periods of time.  

 Work on a varied schedule.  

QUALIFICATIONS  

This is an entry level position. In order to meet the position requirements, a person qualified to be an Intake Assistant will have at least a High School diploma or equivalent. Please note: North Shore Exchange is unable to hire persons with a criminal history of theft or violence.

PAY

The Intake Assistants role is part-time, paid at $16 an hour.
