About Us

What kind of organization is North Shore Exchange?

We’re a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting charities that provide human services for low-income families and children.

How much of your profits go to charity?

100% of our profits go to selected Chicagoland charities. In October 2022 we celebrated over $3,200,000 donated to charity thanks to our loyal shoppers, consignors and donors—and the work of our wonderful volunteers and staff.

How do you choose the charities that receive the grant money?

NSE’s mission is to provide funding to organizations that offer human services for low-income families and children around the Midwest as well as the Family Service of Glencoe locally. We accept online applications proposing both new programs and the continuation of existing programs.

Where are we located?

We have three locations:

Glencoe : 372 Hazel Ave, Glencoe IL

Chicago : 900 North Michigan, Chicago IL

Wilmette : 1100 Central Ave, Wilmette IL


How are my items priced?

Each item is individually inspected by a member of our pricing team. Items are evaluated on condition, style and designer. Pieces are also priced based on comparable items currently on the market. Speciality items will be professionally appraised and researched to determine their value.

How do you authenticate items?

Each product we accept is put through a multiple-point, brand-specific authentication process. To learn more please visit our Authenticity page.

What happens if my item does not sell??

After 65 days, unless you choose to donate your items to NSE, all items need to be picked up by the pick-up date clearly marked on your item list. After that, all unsold items will considered as a generous donation. The consignor will receive a donation letter for tax purposes.

To request an item back, please fill this form. NSE will not call to remind you of pickup dates.

How soon will I be paid for the sale of my items?

A check will be mailed to the address provided on your consigment-agreement form within one month of the sale of your items. Accounts will less then $50 balance will be issued every quarter. Commissions can be used for in-store purchases. A $4 convenience fee will be deducted from the total amount of each check.

Do you accept returns?

All items are final at the time of purchase. No returns will be accepted either in-store or online. All items that cannot be returned can be reconsigned. Click here to learn more about consigning your items with North Shore Exchange.

What information do I need to know before ordering?

Prices are subject to change at any time.

All photos are actual photos of products and inventory we have on hand.

How much will I be charged for sales tax?

Sales tax is automatically calculated based on where you live. It is applied to your order according to individual state and local regulations. Appropriate tax charges will appear during checkout.

What forms of payment do you accept?

For online purchases, North Shore Exchange is proud to accept the following:

How long will it take to receive my order?

Once your order has shipped you will receive an email with a tracking number. Please allow up to two weeks for your package to be delivered.

Do you ship furniture?

Online furniture purchases must be picked up in store. Shipping is not available for these pieces.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately, we do not ship internationally at this time.
