Our Authentication Process

Each product we accept is put through a multiple-point, brand-specific authentication process. Over the years, we've gathered a lot of expertise and data about various brands. The only items we accept are those which have our complete confidence in their authenticity. Above all, our reputation in the community is vital to our success.

Clothing

We inspect all clothing for designer labels, condition and fashion trends. No item will ever be placed on the floor that is unclean, dated, ragged, missing buttons or has holes.

Handbags

We inspect all handbags for the appropriate date codes, serial tags and hologram stickers, ensuring that they pass our specific authenticity tests before they are entered in our system for sale.

Jewelry

We use 10x binocular microscopes and loupes to inspect items, along with gem-specific techniques to determine the origin of each piece. Additionally, we utilize the expertise of local jewelers to ensure accuracy on weight, value and market price.

Furniture & Home Accessories

All of our furniture and home accessory items are extensively researched for designer identification and quality. We use many different sources to perform side by side comparisons in order to provide as much detail as possible on each piece.

North Shore Exchange does not accept fake or counterfeit merchandise of any kind. If we suspect that a submitted consignment item is inauthentic, we will contact the consignor for proof of purchase. If there is still further doubt about the item’s authenticity, we return the item to the owner.
