We'd like to introduce you to our partner, Margaret's Village. We were thrilled to present Margaret's Village with their first charitable grant with us in our most recent grantmaking cycle in the fall of 2020.
Margaret's Village provides transitional housing for homeless women, children and families – and an experience that empowers, provides mentorship and support for women and their families in the broader community, to help them reach their highest potential".
Nicole Hayek, Chair of North Shore Exchange's Philanthropy Committee, said "Margaret's Village describes themselves as a place 'where change begins'. They inspire us with their combination of trauma-informed programs and services that lift and support the individuals they serve, building resilience and hope, and empowering individuals on the journey to self-sufficiency and permanent housing."
This year, North Shore Exchange's giving focused on the acute needs of hunger, homelessness, health care and abuse - all of which have skyrocketed due to the pandemic. Every charity that receives a grant from North Shore Exchange is extensively vetted for mission alignment, financial soundness and program effectiveness.
We are proud to support many organizations doing important work improving the lives of individuals and communities in need. Consistent with our mission, North Shore Exchange awards grants to organizations that provide human services and education to children and families in the Midwest experiencing poverty.
Whenever you shop, consign and donate with us, you're also helping to care for Chicago's most vulnerable like the women, children and seniors served by Margaret's Village. We are proud to have donated over $2 million in charitable grants to Chicagoland charities to date -- and hundreds of thousands more in in-kind giving.
Thank you for helping to make a difference by supporting our mission.
