Sunday, March 12th, the staff and volunteers of North Shore Exchange celebrated the organization’s 10th anniversary! Since taking over the space of the former Glencote thrift shop a decade ago, NSE has given back to its community in a multitude of ways. When asked about the ten greatest accomplishments, North Shore Exchange’s CEO Wendy Serrino listed them as follows:
Top Ten Accomplishments in Ten Years
1) Over $3.2 million in grants given to nonprofits agencies serving the poor
2) Over $500,000 in in-kind donations donated to our partner non-profits
3) Business Performance of a CAGR of 25% over 10 years.
4) Resold and repurposed over 180,000 designer items
5) Furnished 15 apartments for refugees
6) Employ over 30 part and full-time employees
7) Provided meaningful volunteer and community service opportunities for over 250 people since our inception
8) Provided attainable and affordable luxury items for our savvy, earth-conscious customers
9) Provided a way for our customers, consignors, volunteers, and employees to give back to their community and participate in our mission
10) Expanded to 3 growing storefronts and a booming online business
During yesterday’s celebrations, Serrino unveiled a plaque that is now a permanent fixture outside of the Glencoe store’s main entrance. This new decoration is in honor of the founders of the nonprofit organization – Louis and Stuart Scheyer, the concept creators behind North Shore Exchange, and Roberta Olshansky of the Women’s Libary Club, without whom the founding of the organization would not have been possible.
North Shore Exchange thanks all of the people who have made the last ten years happen – the staff, volunteers, and community of loyal customers and consignors. Without your hard work, dedication, and support, we would not be where we are today. Thank you for ten amazing years and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our organization!
