By choosing North Shore Exchange, you conserve valuable resources. Producing a single cotton shirt can use up to 700 gallons of water, more than you could use in three years. Purchasing second hand jeans saves, on average, 1,800 gallons of water, 1.5 kWh of electricity, and 5 oz of chemicals per pair. We have a large selection of high-end jeans you can buy without using any more resources.

Lower carbon footprint

Shopping for secondhand furniture, home decor, and fashion significantly reduces carbon emissions. If every customer this year purchased one piece of secondhand clothing instead of a new item, it would lower CO2 emissions by 2 billion pounds—the equivalent of taking 76 million cars off the road for a day. For example, buying a pair of secondhand jeans saves an average of 33 kg of CO2, the same amount produced by an average car driving 70 miles.

Each year, 11.3 million tons of clothing end up in landfills, with over 3 million tons incinerated, releasing harmful gasses. The remaining clothing decomposes, producing methane and leaking dyes and chemicals into the environment. By purchasing second hand garments, you prevent them from ending up in landfills, giving them a new life.
