We are delighted to introduce you to our partner, Care for Real.
Serving residents in Chicago's Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods, Care for Real provides "food for neighbors to prepare more than 1.25 million meals each year and, in addition, offers a free clothes closet, a pet food pantry and support services."
According to Nicole Hayek, Chair of North Shore Exchange's Philanthropy Committee, "We have been proud to support Care for Real with grant funds since their first successful application in 2019. Care for Real works to help local families in need by providing them with food, clothing, and referral services - and does so while recognizing the humanity of every person they serve."
This year, North Shore Exchange's giving focused on the acute needs of hunger, homelessness, health care and abuse - all of which have skyrocketed due to the pandemic. Care for Real distributed nearly 2 million pounds of food in 2020, a 39.7% increase over the prior year.
Every charity that receives a grant from North Shore Exchange is extensively vetted for mission alignment, financial soundness and program effectiveness.
We are proud to support many organizations doing important work improving the lives of under-served individuals and communities. Consistent with our mission, North Shore Exchange awards grants to organizations that provide human services and education to children and families in the Midwest living experiencing poverty.
Whenever you shop, consign and donate with us, you're also helping to care for Chicago's most vulnerable like those served by Care for Real. Thank you for helping to make a difference by supporting our mission.
