Annual Award Recognizes Growing Chicago Businesses with Philanthropic Impact
GLENCOE, IL, June 6, 2017 -- North Shore Exchange is proud to announce that they were named the winner of the sixth annual James Tyree Emerging Business award at the Chicagoland Chamber’s 113th Annual meeting this morning held at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.
The award is given annually to an up-and-coming Chicago entrepreneur with philanthropic values and includes $50,000 in cash to be used for future business growth, compliments of Mesirow Financial and The PrivateBank.
“We are incredibly honored to receive such a prestigious award" said Wendy Serrino, President, North Shore Exchange. “To be in the same company as all of the innovative businesses we competed alongside with was truly inspiring. Each and every one of them is doing so much to give back to our community."
North Shore Exchange competed with two other businesses for the final award — Fort Knox Studios/2112, a music business incubator; and Inverom/Innova UEV, a company providing sustainable electric car solutions.
“We operate on a streamlined budget in order to maximize our profits to fund the grants that we award each year to nonprofit organizations creating meaningful change in the lives of children and families,” said Serrino. “$50,000 will allow us to invest more substantially in technology and growing our business while still being able to support these organizations’ important missions at a higher, level.”
To date, North Shore Exchange has given away $700,000 in grants in just three years. An upscale resale shop, North Shore Exchange offers an edited collection of luxury and upscale women’s clothing and accessories, as well as beautiful home furnishings and decor. 100% of all proceeds go to charity.
